June 1, 2010

A 74-year-old Massapequa man died Tuesday after a two-vehicle crash in East Farmingdale that closed part of Route 110 for several hours, police said.

Edward McCloskey was airlifted by helicopter to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow after the 12:35 p.m. crash, police said, and was pronounced dead there from his injuries at about 2 p.m.

McCloskey, was driving a 2004 Toyota Highlander north on Route 110 when it collided with a 2007 Toyota Scion that was traveling westbound on Gazza Boulevard, police said.

Carol Kolano of East Farmingdale, the driver of the Scion, was not injured, police said.

First Squad detectives were investigating the collision and asked that any witnesses who have not already spoken with detectives contact them at 631-854-8152.

The crash closed northbound Route 110 at Conklin Street; that road was reopened and reported back to normal by 5 p.m.
